Where is Selfers available?

For now, Selfers is available in Spain 🇪🇸, both in the Spanish mainland and in the Canary Islands. Of course, for now Ceuta and Melilla are not included.

What are the requirements to open an account with Selfers?

You must meet the following conditions:

- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have a valid Model 036 (registered with the Treasury). If you don't have it, we can carry out this procedure, just ask for your registration here.
- Be a resident in Spain or have a residence permit.
- Not be a U.S. citizen.

What type of self-employed person is Selfers aimed at?

For everyone! 🙌 At Selfers, we support any type of freelancer. In fact, we already manage more than 50 different CNAE activities (and counting).

Some examples: publishers, psychologists, architects, influencers, nutritionists, coaches, consultants, developers, athletes, DJs, UGC creators, e-commerce owners, journalists, IT professionals...

Am I a self-employed company, can I open a Selfers account for my company?

No 😕. Selfers is designed for private freelancers. The taxation of an S.L., S.L.U. or other type of company is not our focus for now, and our AI is not ready to manage it.

However, if in addition to being a self-employed company you are also a private freelancer (for another activity), Selfers can help you to carry out that part of your activity without problem.

How do I open an account with Selfers?

Very easy 🙂

Just download the app from your mobile phone, from the App Store or Google Play, and start your registration. If you have any questions at any step, write to our team at support@selfers.ai and we are happy to help you.

How long does it take to open an account with Selfers?

Very little! 🚀 In less than 6 minutes you can complete your registration. You only need to have your Model 036 and your ID at hand for identity verification.

After that, the verification process by our banking provider Swan can take between 1 and 3 hours. Keep in mind that the compliance team does not carry out checks on weekends.

How does Selfers charge the monthly payment?

The first payment is made during your registration in the app. Then, you only need to authorize Selfers to make the payments from your account. From there, the fee will be automatically charged every 30 days (as long as you have sufficient balance).

If you don't have funds at the time of payment, your account will be partially blocked. You can unlock it by making the payment of the outstanding monthly payment with a card.

Is there a stay in Selfers?

No 😊, in Selfers there is no type of permanence.

Of course, important: if you cancel your account in the middle of a quarter, we will no longer be able to file your quarterly returns. In that case, you'll have to manage them on your own.

What if I want to unsubscribe from my agency to join Selfers?

We love that you want to take the step to become a Selfer! 🎉

To do this quickly and without complications, you only need to ask your manager (or search your files) for all the billing for the current quarter and the returns filed for the current fiscal year.

👉 Example: If you decide to join in November, you'll need to share your bills for October and November, in addition to statements for the first, second and third quarters.

You can upload all this directly from the app. If you already have the documents handy, it won't take more than two minutes.

What happens to my account if I unsubscribe as a freelancer?

We know that at some point you may want to unsubscribe as a freelancer, and that's okay. Of course, be careful: if you have been registered for a quarter (even if you had no income or expenses), you will still have to file your quarterly returns.

In Selfers there is no permanence, but if you cancel your account we will no longer be able to make those statements for you.

And an important detail: if you were enjoying the flat rate for self-employed workers and you unsubscribe, when you register again you will not be able to take advantage of it again until two years have passed since your last cancellation.

Can an account be reactivated? Does it have a cost?

If you have cancelled your Selfers account, it is not possible to reactivate it later: you will have to create a new account. This is part of our security and fraud prevention policies.

There is no additional cost to open a new account. However, in your first payment, you must advance the first three monthly payments.

Is there a portable version for Selfers?

Not at the moment 😉.

But don't worry, before the end of the year we will release the computer version and it will be available for all Selfers.

Is Selfers a bank?

Selfers is a financial technology company, not a bank.

We work together with Swan to offer payment services, bank accounts and debit cards. Swan is a regulated electronic money institution authorized to provide payment services, with the number (CIB) 17328 of the French Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) and with the number (code BE) 6724 of the Bank of Spain, and is subject to the supervision of these authorities.

Are there any fees for sending money through Selfers?

No. At Selfers, we don't charge any fees for sending or receiving transfers in euros.

Are there any fees for using my Selfers debit card?

Yes, our banking partner Swan will charge additional fees for the following events.

- Cash withdrawals at cash machines in France and the SEPA area (Europe): 1,00€

- Cash withdrawals at cash machines outside the SEPA zone (Europe): 2% of the amount withdrawn.

- Card payment for goods and services in stores or remotely outside the euro zone: 2% of the amount paid.

In what currencies can I have money in my Selfers account?

For now, Selfers accounts are only available in euros (EUR).

If you receive income in USD ($) or GBP (£), don't worry: thanks to our agreement with Wise through our banking partner Swan, you can automatically convert them to euros with a fixed commission of 5€ + 0.6% of the amount received.

Is there any type of bank commission?

Yes, but only one 👇

If you don't have funds in your account when trying to collect a direct debit receipt, our banking partner Swan will apply a fee of 10€ per failed debit.

The most common case is usually with quarterly returns: if the Treasury tries to charge the amount and there is not enough balance, Swan will apply that fee.

Can I direct my self-employed fee to the Selfers account?

Not at the moment 😅.

We are in talks with Social Security so that in 2025 you can direct debit your contribution directly to Selfers. Until then, you will have to indicate another bank account where you want Social Security to collect it.

Is there a cost to order a physical Selfers card?

No 😊. All shipments within the European Union are included, so you won't have to pay anything extra for your physical card.

Can I add my Selfers card to my mobile wallet?

Not at the moment 😅.

At Selfers you will have a virtual card for online purchases and a physical card to pay at any POS.

We're working so that in the future you can add it to Apple Pay and Google Pay, but this functionality won't arrive in 2025.

Is there a limit to the number of invoices I can send?

No 🚀. You can send as many invoices as you want, without any type of limit.

Are there commissions on invoice revenues?

Neither 🙌. At Selfers, we don't charge fees of any kind for your bills.

To what extent are my invoices customizable?

You can add your logo or photo, choose different colors and very soon you'll also be able to include multiple payment methods (we're working on it).

What happens if I send the wrong invoice to a customer?

It's okay 🙂. From the app, you can correct your customer or invoice data, and it will be automatically updated both in the invoice that your customer received and in your accounting.

However, keep in mind that this functionality will be available only until 01/01/2026, when Verifactu comes into effect and it is no longer possible, you will have to issue an amendment (don't worry, with Selfers you'll be covered).

What if I made transactions or expenses outside my Selfers account? Do they count in my accounting?

Of course! 🙌 There is no problem.

Although we always recommend centralizing all your income in your Selfers account, we understand that sometimes a customer may pay you in another account or that you make a purchase with your personal card by mistake.

In those cases, you can easily upload those invoices from the External Invoices service, so that your accounting will be properly recorded.

What if I already use billing software that I'm used to?

No problem! 🙌 If your current tool makes your life easier, either because it's perfectly suited to your type of activity, or you simply have the “taste” for them, you can continue using it without problem.

All you have to do is upload those invoices to your accounts in Selfers, so that we can correctly calculate your tax forecast and prepare your quarterly models.

Is the Selfers fee a deductible expense?

Of course! 🙌 Our fees are a deductible professional expense for any self-employed person. In addition, we automatically upload those invoices to your accounting, so you don't have to worry about anything.

How do I ask for my quarterly taxes?

Within the app you will find the Services section, where you can generate your models. You can request them on these dates:

- 1st Trimester: April 1 to 10

- 2nd Trimester: July 1 to 10

- 3rd Trimester: October 1 to 10

- 4th Quarter: January 1 to 15

Once you order them, your models will be automatically calculated with your accounting and you will have your draft ready in less than a minute ⏱.

Who files my taxes? Can I check them?

Your taxes are filed directly by our team of advisors. You just have to confirm from the app, after reviewing your drafts, that you want to submit them. ✅

If you see something that doesn't fit you, you can request a session with our advisors. We will review your models together, answer your questions and, once everything is clear or corrected, you can request the presentation.

How does the Treasury collect returns filed with Selfers?

The Tax Agency is directly connected to Selfers accounts. By default (unless you indicate otherwise), your returns will be charged directly to your Selfers account. The usual billing dates are:

- 1st Quarter: April 20

- 2nd Quarter: July 20

- 3rd Trimester: October 20

- 4th Quarter: January 25 👉 Keep in mind that if any of these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, the Treasury moves the bill to the next business day.

Can Selfers file my income tax return?

We are exploring agreements with specialized rental partners, so that Selfers can share your activity as a freelancer and that you are always in the best hands.

We have already successfully managed several statements in the past year, although this is not our main focus.
